A Partnership in Caring

LJ Hooker began their partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Australia in 1998 in the hope to help raise public awareness for this condition and to also raise money for research into a cure for this life threatening condition. LJ Hooker offices across the country conduct a variety of activities throughout the year where the proceeds are donated to the LJ Hooker Cystic Fibrosis Research Fund. To date this fund has contributed in excess of $2 million to research, although there is still no cure for this condition.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition that affects the lungs and digestive system, impairing the ability to breathe and digest food normally. It is the most common life threatening genetic condition affecting children in Australia today.

Statistics reveal that approximately 1 in 25 people in Australia are carriers of the CF gene. Daily medication, intensive physiotherapy and a special diet are needed to maintain a normal life. As yet, there is no cure for this life-threatening disease, however, with daily treatment most children now progress into adulthood.
